摘要：
The permanently changing magnetic field of the Sun is the ultimate driver of the various effects refered to as space weather. This chapter gives an overview of the physics of the solar magnetic field and its variability. This includes a brief description of the structure of the Sun, and a discussion of the origin of the solar magnetic field.
