摘要
The octahedral ruthenium(m) complexes have been prepared with bidentate Schiff bases derived from condensation of 2-amino-4-methylpyridine and 4-methylaniline with aromatic aldehydes. The obtained complexes were characterized on the basis of their elemental analysis, electronic spectra, magnetic moment, IR and H-1 NMR spectroscopy as well as thermal analysis. The ruthenium(m) complexes belong to low spin d(5) configuration. Spectral (IR, H-1 NMR) studies shows that all the Schiff bases behave as bidentate ligands and coordinated to ruthenium metal atom via nitrogen and oxygen. The Schiff bases and their complexes have been screened for their in vitro antibacterial (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) activities by disc diffusion method.
