摘要
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected urban tourism, which had been booming until 2019, but has by no means brought it to a standstill. In our paper, we argue for understanding the developments between March 2020 and September 2021 as a (temporary) transformation within city tourism. To support this argument, we discuss the three dimensions of our conceptualization of "new urban tourism" (Stors et al., 2019) - (a) the extraordinary mundane; (b) encounters and contact zones; and (c) urban co-production - in the context of the pandemic. We illustrate that urban tourism still persists during strict travel bans, but is shaped by other city users, attributions, and practices. Thus, we argue that urban tourism is inherent to the city, also in times of a pandemic.
