摘要
A wide and satisfactory surgical exposure is an essential requirement for the complete extirpation of huge tumors invading the central skull base. The modified design of Wei's technique (1991) was applied and the derails of technique are described. The major benefits of this technique for the surgical treatment of nasopharyngeal angiofibroma were: (1) adequate exposure to handle the huge tuner; 2) minimal blood loss during surgery; (3) easy dissection of the tumor from the cavernous sinus; and (4) acceptable postoperative morbidity. This surgical technique designed by the authors, which largely exposes the central skull base, can be considered to be a very appropriate approach in the treatment of huge angiofibromas invading the central skull base.
