Photostimulated luminescence in Ce3+-doped silicate glasses

摘要
The first observation of photostimulated luminescence phenomenon in a Ce3+-doped silicate glass is reported, When the X-ray irradiated glass was excited by a He-Ne laser (633 nm), photostimulated luminescence at 400 nm due to the 4f-5d transition of Ce3+ ions was observed. The photostimulated excitation spectrum showed a broad band with a maximum at 600 nm. By comparing with the investigations on photostimulable luminescence phosphor BaFBr:Eu2+, the luminescence appears to result from photostimulated recombination of electrons and holes at traps which leave electrons in a long-lived excited state.
