摘要
In this study, 10 selected plant species were collected from different localities of Aydin. 10 g of the freeze-dried and powdered leaves of the plant samples were extracted by maceration at room temperature (25 degrees C) in water/ethanol (Merck, USA) (1: 1) under shaker at 100 rpm for 24 h, respectively. The antimicrobial activities of the plant extracts on the various test microorganisms, including multiple antibiotic resistant bacteria, were investigated. Antimicrobial activities of the extracts were determined by the disc diffusion method. Used test microorganisms were Escherichia coli ATCC 35218, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228, Bacillus cereus ATCC 11778, Micrococcus luteus ATCC 9341, Salmonella typhimirium ATCC 14028, Streptococcus pneumoniae ATCC 49617, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Bacillus thrungiensis, Serratia marcescens, Pseudomonas extorquens, Proteus sp. and were Saccharomyces cerevisiae ATCC 9763, Candida albicans ATCC 90028, Candida glabata, Candida utilis, Candida trophicalis. Also different antibiotic discs were used for comparison of inhibition zones. The ethanol extracts of Juglans regia L., Cynara scolymus L., Prunus armeniaca L., Ziziphus zizyphus L., Rubus fruticosus L, Herba polii L., Cydonia oblonga L., Ranunculus sp. showed higher antibacterial activity than Elaeagnus angustifolia L. and Folium caricae L. extracts.
