University and industry: Partners to meet technology education needs

Partnerships between universities and industry can often bring much needed rewards to both parties. This paper outlines the derails of one such partnership between Cummins Engine Company, Inc. and Purdue University. In this case: industry provided the university with much needed funding for additional lab hardware and software resources. The university provided industry with a more cost effective and a nearby source for technical training for its information systems personnel. By working together in the analysis, planning, design, implementation. and evaluation stages, the two partners have succeeded in creating a program that benefits both and a program that is projected to continue through May of 1999.
