An environmentally benign synthesis of 3,3'-bis(indolyl)methanes (BIMs) has been developed from aryl-methylamines and indoles under aerobic condition in presence of oxone. The formation of BIMs using ethanol as a green reaction medium represents a good practical method for synthesis. The good toler-ance was observed towards various functional groups for exploring substrate scope in presence of oxone and the synthesized BIMs afforded in excellent yields up to 94%.(c) 2022 Elsevier B.V.
