Super capacitor for energy recycling hybrid vehicle

摘要
For a new concept, energy recycling hybrid vehicle, a high-power electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) at high working voltage was successfully fabricated using a newly-developed activated carbon/carbon composite as the electrode. The high-power EDLC has capacitance of 20 F at 120 V, and is able to supply 24 kW power br a moment. Because of no chemical reaction, the high-power EDLC is very durable against high-rate charge and discharge cycles. Using the high-power EDLC in a compact hybrid vehicle with regenerative braking system, 25-30 % fuel was saved in the 10-15 mode requiring frequent starting and stopping.
