Preparation, characterization and catalytic application of Fe- and Fe/Al-pillared clays in the catalytic wet peroxide oxidation of 4-chlorophenol

摘要
Pillared clays were prepared from naturally occurring montmorillonite by intercalating with polyoxocations containing iron, iron and aluminium with molar ratio Fe/Al = 1: 1, 1:10. The PILCs were characterized by chemical analysis, XRD, BET surface area measurements. It was established that Fe/Al (1:10)-PILCs allowed total conversion of 4-chlorophenol and 75% removal of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) without a significant leaching of Fe ions. Fe-, Fe/Al (1:1)-PILCs also have high activity, but they are less stable.
