A Wideband Circularly Polarized Magnetoelectric Dipole Antenna with Simple Feeding

摘要
A wideband circularly polarized (CP) unidirectional antenna is proposed in this paper. By employing a slot antenna and a pair of horizontal plates as a magnetic dipole and an electric dipole, respectively, the proposed magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna is designed for CP radiation. 1-lambda resonant mode of the proposed ME dipole antenna is excited by a single feeding to achieve a wideband characteristic. Simulated results show that the antenna has a wide impedance bandwidth (IMBW) of 4.77-5.5 GHz (0.73 GHz, 14.2%) and 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) of 4.3-5.5 GHz (1.2 GHz, 24.5%). In addition, unidirectional radiation patterns with a peak gain of 5.6 dBi and high radiation efficiency of more than 90% over the operating band are obtained.
