Social Exclusion. Theoretical References and Analytical Axes from the Psychosocial Approach

The article briefly presents theories about social exclusion, elaborated by important authors, coming from different disciplines and regions. Concepts, dimensions, indicators are recorded, and some characteristics of the main excluded groups are indicated. Based on the critical analysis of such contributions, a theoretical proposal on social exclusion is elaborated and exposed from the perspective of social psychology, and based on the psychosocial approach, which makes it possible to make explicit the mediation of macro, micro and individual level elements. Consequently, it delves into the subjective dimension, in the interventions of stereotypes, prejudices, social perceptions and group identities, and axes are proposed for empirical investigation considering the peculiarities of the context where they are (re) produced.
