摘要
Insulin resistance is a primary abnormality in the evolution of type 2 diabetes and is associated with Syndrome X, a cluster of risk factors predisposing to cardiovascular disease. In the polycystic ovary syndrome, insulin resistance may lead to hyperandrogenism; troglitazone, an insulin sensitizer, corrects abnormalities in the pituitary/gonadal axis in these patients.
