摘要
A number of factors need to be considered by data device manufacturers to use platinum in next-generation materials for data storage. The first requirement is an acceptable signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), while the second requirement is that the medium be thermally stable. A number of different approaches need to be adopted to develop the next-generation material as a media with reduced bit size for increased data storage. Novel materials with large values of Ku, such as platinum, are being explored to be used in a highly regular form for data storage. A European research group is expected to have found a way to utilize the advantages of iron-platinum (FePt) alloy and nanoparticles without associated disadvantages, to fulfill these objectives.
