摘要
Rivers, streams, and lakes are elements of the urban landscape and simultaneously part of the natural hydrological system. Urban water bodies may contribute significantly to the quality of life in cities and may fulfil special functions in land-use planning and urban development. Yet, many urban water bodies show obvious deficiencies in terms of their integration into the urban space and the natural hydrological landscape. The topic of urban water bodies is high on the current agenda. In recent years, many cities have initiated or even implemented plans and real-life projects pertaining to water bodies. Moreover, new issues, such as new requirements in flood defence, have become prominent. The present paper focuses on integration as one component of urban planning in Swiss cities, with special reference to the most important historical processes. Current case studies and trends are classified on an empirical basis. The potential for reintegration of flowing waters and lakes in cities depends on many factors.
