Optical Properties of Synthesized Ag and Ag@SiO2 Core-Shell Nanoparticles

摘要
Silver and silica coated silver nanoparticles (Ag@SiO2) were synthesized by simple chemical reduction method. The structure and optical properties were studied by XRD, TEM and UV-vis spectroscopy. The TEM images reveled that all the samples prepared were spherical in shapes with uniform size distribution. The average sizes of silver and silver-silica core-shell nanoparticles were found as 11 and 14 nm respectively. The UV-vis spectra showed the redshift of plasmon peak due to coating of silica shell over silver core. The red shift in surface plasmon peak is calculated theoretically for both silver and silica-silver nanoparticles which were found in good agreement with the experimental result.
