WEEE recycling and legislation development in China

摘要
This paper presents the reasons on why international attention has been paid to Chinese Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling, even though WEEE recycling industry has not established in China. Although WEEE is currently not a significant proportion in municipal solid waste, a huge amount of WEEE is going to end-of-life which will, nevertheless, be an environmental problem soon. This paper also provides an overview of how WEEE legislation is being prepared by several Ministries. Finally it discusses the WEEE recycling industry is developing and will create great employment opportunities, as well as a large amount of recycled materials.
