摘要
The aim of the present trial was to determine the prevalence of Mycoplasmosis in cockfighting chickens from the Mexican central highlands. The sampling was carried out at six Toluca Valley Municipalities during December 2010 May 2011, due to the casting season in Mexico. A total of 323 chickens, randomly selected from 29 breeder flocks joined to the National Federation of Cockfighting Chicken Breeders (FNCGP) located in Toluca Valley, Mexico, were sampled. Detection of antibodies against M. gallisepticum (Mg) and M. synoviae (Ms) by the slide test was performed. A 78% antibody-positive frequency to Mg and 91% antibody-positive frequency to Ms were obtained. There is a high seroprevalence to Mg and Ms that may be due to the flock handling, were chickens of several ages are raised. Further studies for determining risk factors at that cockfighting flocks are needed.
