The influence of an applied sound field on bubble coalescence

摘要
Coalescence of two bubbles of equal size O (1 mm) is inhibited if the bubbles are exposed to a sound field with sufficient amplitude near the resonance of two bubbles. The experiments indicate that coalescence inhibition is caused by a too large approach velocity of the bubble surfaces. The experimental resonance frequency of two bubbles was found to be in good agreement with theory. (C) Acoustical Society of America.
