摘要
A planar internal antenna for application in GPS/PCS dual-band mobile phones is proposed and implemented. The proposed antenna has two resonant elements printed on a supporting FR4 substrate with thickness of 0.8 mm: one is the printed monopole element that radiates at a higher frequency and couples electromagnetically to the other element. The other is the printed dipole element that radiates at a lower frequency and is placed around the monopole element. In the proposed antenna, the most important design factor is the dimensional combination of the area occupied by each element so that the antenna provides a wide bandwidth of about 19% for GPS (1575 +/- 10 MHz) and Korean PCS (1810 +/- 60 MHz) bands, and a gain between -0.5 and 2 dBi for the operating band.
