Even when APC and other high-energy driven procedures are performed in compliance with preventive measures, the risk of colon explosion cannot completely be avoided. To date, meticulous full bowel cleansing with preparation without sugar compounds that may be malabsorbed should be carried out before any APC treatment in the colon. © 2008 American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
