German not only a Foreign Language but also a Language for Special Purposes

Teaching German as a foreign language for special purposes at a Technical University is to enhance the linguistic and communicative competence of non-native speaker in order to allow them to communicate in a foreign language at their future job. The emphasis was put on how to combine and harmonize instructional materials in order to produce learning paths targeting a specific variety of language and communicative needs. The applied solutions suggest that a foreign language can be successfully used for special purposes, and offer several opportunities and facilities for a better career. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd.
