This article is concerned with the study of the effect of the quenching and artificial ageing heat treatments on the mechanical characteristics of MMCH hybrid composites. The MMCH composites with an AlSi7Mg0.3 aluminum alloy matrix reinforced with silicon carbide and copper-coated graphite have been obtained at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest within the scope of a CEEX-MA TRIB contract. Specimens from different heat-treated batches (varied graphite contents) were used. The physical characteristics (density) and mechanical characteristics (hardness, compressive strength) were determined by comparison with the untreated composite and the matrix. Results indicate that the heat treatment positively changes these characteristics.
