Community, higher education, and the challenge of multiculturalism

摘要
Using John Dewey's pragmatism, I seek to theorize a relevant and effective understanding of collegiate community within liberal culture. If we were to understand and enact multiculturalism on our campuses in a Deweyan way, we would introduce a method of thinking or "intelligent learning" which would make the ideal of community possible for institutions of higher learning. Characteristically Deweyan, universality and difference would alter and transform each other, serving to promote fo the growth of the community.
