LOVE STYLES AND PERSONALITY OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

This article introduces research concerning love styles and personality of university students. It presents a method newly used in Czech Republic. That is a Love Attitudes scale (LAS), which consists of six subscales (eros, ludus, storge, pragma, mania, agape). First, a Czech version of LAS was created by synthesis of three different translations of the original English version. Secondly, pilot study was conducted (n=56) to investigate internal consistency of the LAS Czech version. Sample consisted of 170 college students, 50 males and 120 females from 18 to 35 years old. Study further investigated correlation between LAS subscales and the level of machiavellianism, measured by also recently translated to Czech, Mach-IV method. Based on results, the hypothesis about positive correlation between scores of Mach-IV scale and LAS subscale: Ludus was confirmed.
