摘要：

Reaction of 2-phenyl 1-H benzimidazole 1 with p-aminobenzoic acid and aromatic aldehydes in ethanol furnishes 1-(alpha-p-carboxyphenyl-aminobenzyl) 2-phenyl Benzimidazoles 2, which on treatment with o-phenylene diamine in pyridine results in the formation of 1-(alpha-p-benzimidazolyl-aminobenzyl) 2-phenyl benzimidazoles 3. Antibacterial and antifungal activities of 3 were determined.
