Inter-Turn Fault Localization in Transformer Winding based on Nanosecond Pulse Method

摘要
The early detection and localization of the interturn fault in the transformer winding are necessary for reducing severe damage to the transformer. This paper presents the localization of the inter-turn fault in transformer winding based on the nanosecond pulse method. In this method, the nanosecond range pulse is injected from one end of the faulted experimental winding, and the time domain response signal is measured from another end of the winding. The ladder network based simulation model of the winding is developed, and reference response signals are generated for each faulty section. The faulty winding response is correlated with the reference simulation responses. The section corresponding to the maximum correlation with simulation responses provides the location of the faulty section of the winding.
