Image-guided sinus surgery: Practical considerations

Although image-guidance systems have gained widespread acceptance since they were first used for sinus surgery in the mid-1990s, the proper role of this technology has yet to be defined [1-3]. Surgeons who choose to use image-guidance technology for sinus surgery must do so with an appreciation for both its potential benefits and limitations. This appreciation can be facilitated by consideration of certain practical guidelines that the authors have developed from their experience using such technology during the past decade. These guidelines begin with proper patient selection.
