摘要
Problems and losses caused by two-dimensional drawings have led project managers to look for new methods. Accordingly, the concept of Building Information Modeling (BIM), which is becoming increasingly common and evaluates a project in different dimensions, has emerged. In this study, the recognition level of the BIM concept and its possible legal obligation in the Turkish AEC sector have been investigated. A survey study was conducted with a sample size of 280 civil engineers and architects, who are actively working in the public and the private construction sectors. Obstacles and suggestions related to how the BIM concept can be adapted to the Turkish construction sector were discussed. The Cronbach alpha (alpha), intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), and relative importance index (RII) were used as reliability indexes. It was found that there are divergencies between the perspectives of the professions and the sectors. Significant perceptual differences between the metropolitan areas and provincial areas were also determined. The paper presents a field study to determine a route map of the developing and the least developed economies in terms of the BIM concept. The research results may also assist BIM developers to introduce the right way to test with generalizing BIM applications.
