摘要
Board diversity represents a significant corporate governance mechanism in order to realize efficient management and supervision within companies: In this context, scientific research aims to verify the economic effects of board diversity empirically. Prior empirical corporate governance research realizes diverging results regarding the influence of board diversity on corporate performance. This study examines the relationship between management board diversity and corporate performance for the German two-tier system. Including 160 companies of the DAX30, TecDAX, MDAX and SDAX for the business years 2009-2011, we mostly find negative effects of various management board diversity characteristics on corporate performance figures, especially regarding age and national diversity attributes.
