摘要：

The review analyzes the book "Anima universitatis: students of St. Petersburg University in the first half of the XIXth century" by T.N. Zhukovskaya and K.S. Kazakova. The main advantages of the monograph are highlighted, including a detailed consideration of such issues as the evolution of the legal status of St. Petersburg students in the first half of the XIXth century, the formation of students' identity, the peculiarities of university relations, and the interaction of university students with the urban environment.
