Growth of K3Li2-xNb5+xO15+2x single-crystal fibers by the LHPG method and its characteristics

K3Li2-xNb5+xO15+2x single-crystal fibers have been grown using the LHPG technique. Ceramic source rods of K3.00Li1.70Nb5.30O15.6 (KLN53), K3.00Li1.85Nb5.15O15.3 (KLN51.5) and K3Li2Nb5O15 (KLN50) were adapted to grow the fibers with the same composition. Growth of KLN53 fibers was easier Than that of KLN51.5 and KLN50 fibers. An orientation of < 110 > was preferable. A pulling rate of 98.0 mm/h was realized for the < 110 > oriented KLN53 single-crystal fiber. The < 110 > and < 100 > oriented KLN53 fibers were rectangular in shape, while the < 001 > oriented fiber was cylindrical in shape. The Curie temperature measurements revealed that compositions of the KLN51.5 and KLN50 fibers did not coincide with that of the ceramic source rods.
