Automated People Movers are employed or projected in some cities all over the world. To explore rite possibility of new exploitation modes, a cooperative correlation based radar collision avoidance system is used to identify trains, detect their positions and compute the distance between them. A problem with such a sensor is that it uses pseudo random codes and that the codes currently employed (mlfsr: maximum length feedback shift registers) are only available in a small amount. This study looks for new codes available in a larger number that deliver good performances in the radar system. Some families of codes used in CDMA or other mobile telecommunication systems have been rested. For these tests a radar detection parameter is defined.
