摘要
Mathematical proof is provided for the existence of a limit to the softening rate of strain-softening material in the classical plasticity theory. Based upon Ilyushin's postulate and the plastic potential theory, a macro-constitutive model for brittle-plastic rock is established to determine the stress drop from the peak strength surface to the residual strength one. The paper solves a deep seated circular tunnel problem with an analytical solution.
