Initiation of hydrogen oxidation by a pulsed electron beam

Results of an experimental study of initiation of a hydrogen-oxygen mixture by a pulsed electron beam are reported. It is shown that pulsed excitation of the gas mixture by an electron beam shifts the first ignition limit to temperatures below 30 degrees C at pressures of 100-120 torr. The temperature interval through which the first flammability limit can be shifted by pulsed radiolysis is much greater than the values numerically predicted by other authors for a stoichiometric hydrogen-oxygen mixture under pulsed radiolysis.
