Study on micro deep drilling of stainless steel assisted by ultrasonic vibration

摘要
The ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling of stainless steel SUS316L is investigated to machine the micro deep through hole. The drilling forces and chip shape of ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling are compared with those of the conventional drilling. The ultrasonic vibration can reduce the drilling forces and chip thickness/length. This would suppress an increase of chip rubbing force and chip clogging force produced along the drill flutes. Finally, the micro deep drilling of through hole with 80 mm in depth can be achieved under the optimum drilling condition with comparative high performance.
