Teaching to the National Geography Standards through children's picture books

摘要
Grasping a knowledge of geography can be an exciting experience for children when it is developed by reading picture books. Many children's books depict the content of the National Geography Standards. This article reviews the standard's six essential elements and demonstrates how children's books can be used to teach geography. Each element and a particular standard are applied to a specific picture book. Incorporating a book may be the first step or the last step of a geography lesson, but either way it will bring about various activities to help students iasl step of a geography lesson, but either way it will bring about various activities to help students relate to their world, learn about different cultures and regions, and experience Earth's physical processes.
