摘要
Emotions and moods are definitely something that needs to be addressed in the workplace. Negative emotions in the workplace could lead to confrontations, productivity issues, lack of teamwork, and termination from a company. Perception, attitude, and personality can all be factors into the emotions that people feel in the workplace (Kiyani, Saher, Saleem & Iqbal, 2013). In the current University world, characterized for continuous changes in the ways in which education is provided and the tools used, leaders cannot succeed if they don't have a strong emotional intelligence that allow them getting adapted to these variety of circumstances. Adopting an authentic leadership style by university professionals could be a way to help affectively manage University's main core competences and has a direct correlation to emotional intelligence. "Authentic leaders are 'individuals who are deeply aware of how they think and behave and are perceived by others as being aware of their own and others' values/moral perspective, knowledge, and strength; aware of the context in which they operate; and who are confident, hopeful, optimistic, resilient, and high on moral character' (Avolio, Gardner, Walumbwa, & May, 2004) Concern for people has a direct relationship to social awareness which is a key aspect of emotional intelligence (Jorfi, Yaccob, Shah, Rezaian, 2012). Emotional Intelligence is defined by self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship awareness (Champoux, 2011) A lecturer that is able to successfully manage their emotions can be a benefit to themselves, others, and the organization itself. Having a high emotional intelligence could help in many circumstances. An example of this may be the affects emotional intelligence has when you are part of a team. Having social awareness will help address and understand the various emotions that the team may face. Finally, strong relationship awareness helps the team members cultivate relationships, foster teamwork, and can help when better resolve conflict. (Champoux, 2011). In this research a theoretical framework to analyze how the effect of emotional intelligence at University professionals can impact final University performance is offered. The model is based in the measurement of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship awareness offered by Champoux in 2011.
