High density optical card edge connector for polymer optical waveguide on printed circuit board

摘要
We propose a silicate based organic-inorganic hybrid polymer optical circuit fabrication including waveguide, mirror and connector on printed circuit board for LSI package. The fabricated polymer-based hybrid printed circuit board consists of 96-channel multimode polymer optical waveguides, selectable-angle mirrors, and 4 optical card edge connectors to the 96 small MMFs. The fabricated optical card connector can realize 24-channel optical coupling at small space. The additional coupling loss of optical card edge connector was below 0.5 dB at 16 channels. We could get a low additional coupling loss and parallel optical links using our small and high-density optical connector.
