摘要
Octopus kagoshimensis Ortmann 1888 is a recent Lessepian migrant from the Red Sea into the Mediterranean. Males produce at least six giant spermatophores (94.4-161.8%). Female fecundity is 3000-7000 small eggs, the development of which in the ovary is asynchronous. The largest measured yolk oocyte in a follicle was of 4 mm. This species appears to show an intermittent spawning as another small octopus with small eggs, O. chierchiae (Rodaniche 1984).
