摘要
In this paper, a new hexagonal grid microstrip array antennas (HGMAAs) has been proposed for upcoming 5G wireless communication systems. The grid microstrip array antenna (GMAA) is a good choice for 5G communication owing to the capability of acting in millimeter-wave range with having high gain, wide bandwidth and easy feeding. The performance and characteristics of HGMAAs are investigated and presented in this paper. All the performance characteristics of the proposed HGMAAs are analyzed by using commercially available CST version 2011 which is widely used by antenna researchers. It uses FDTD method for the simulation and analysis. The dielectric material Teflon (epsilon(r) = 2.1) was chosen as the substrate with the thickness of 0.8 mm and copper with the thickness of 0.02 mm as the patch and the ground plane. The total size of the both proposed antennas is 35x36 mm(2). To enhance the performance of the GMAA, hexagonal shaped cells are adopted. Both proposed HGMAAs radiate at around 28 GHz and show very good VSWR which are much closed to 1 as well as reduced return loss and better gain.
