摘要
The oxidation of methionine (Met) by benzyltrimethylammonium chlorobromate (BTMACB) has been studied in acetic acid -water (1:1) solutions. The oxidation reaction leads to the formation of corresponding sulphoxide. The reaction is first order each in BTMACB and Met. The reaction rates have been determined at different temperatures and the activation parameters have been calculated. A mechanism involving the formation of a halogeno-sulphonium cation in the rate-determining step has been proposed.
