Dust Ionization and Dust Acoustic Waves in the DC Low-Pressure Gas Discharge under Microgravity Conditions

摘要
A unified theory of dust ionization waves (DIW) found in the recent experiment and dust acoustic waves (DAW) is proposed. DIW arise due to oscillations in the rate of electron-ion recombination on the surface of dust grains. The theoretical approach is based on the equations of motion and continuity for dust grains, the balance equation for cold ions, the Boltzmann distribution for hot electrons, and the Poisson equation. A unified dispersion relation is derived, which provides an interpretation of the DIW and DAW regularities observed experimentally.
