Exchange interaction effects on excitons and biexcitons in single CdTe quantum dots

摘要
We report a study of excitons and biexcitons confined in single CdTe/ZnTe quantum dots. From magnetophotoluminescence experiments we obtain the complete fine structure (Exchange and Zeeman splitting) of excitons and biexcitons confined in quantum dots with reduced symmetry. The biexciton-exciton transition reproduces all the fine structure of the exciton. The valence band mixing induced by the asymmetry of the confining potential leads to a linear polarization anisotropy of the exciton and biexciton luminescence. The influence of quantum confinement on the exciton singlet-triplet splitting and biexciton binding energy is discussed.
