Physical mechanisms of high-frequency electromagnetic field generation by a lightning discharge

Relations between parameters of Lightning discharge at the leader phase and return stroke phase are obtained. It is shown that the high-frequency radiation of Lightning is determined by the parameters of the streamer zone of a leader at the final jump phase. Methods for determination of Lightning parameters from the measurements of statistical properties of electromagnetic field are proposed. The influence of random bending and branching of lightning channel on the characteristics of electromagnetic field in far field zone is considered. New quantitative characteristics for analysis of electromagnetic field of Lightning are introduced.
