摘要
Recently, ceramics have been enormously using for drug delivery applications. Alumina (Al2O3) is a common ceramic material, offering enhanced reliability and excellent performance in wound healing applications. Thus, this work aimed to fabricate an Al2O3 based polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) nanofibrous scaffolds. The prepared nanofibrous scaffolds were characterized for morphology and chemical structure by a collection of joint techniques, including SEM, TEM, AFM, FTIR, UV-vis-NIR and DSC. Furthermore, porosity, degradation and drug-releasing ability of the nanofibrous scaffolds were investigated. The antimicrobial activity of the nanofibrous scaffolds was tested against two bacterial strains (S. aureus and E. coli) by the agar diffusion method. Also, the biocompatibility test of the obtained nanofibrous scaffolds was evaluated using fibroblast cells (L929). Based on in vivo burn wound healing model Al2O3/PVP nanofibrous scaffold significantly hastening the wound healing process by facilitating re-epithelialization as well as collagen synthesis. The present study concludes that the Al2O3 modified PVP nanofibrous scaffold has great potential in wound healing for the treatment of burn wounds. (C) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
