Kansei ergonomics as the advanced technology for product development

Kansei Engineering was founded by M. Nagamachi at Hiroshima University 30 years ago, which means an ergonomic consumer-oriented technology to develop a new product. When a consumer wants to buy some thing, he/she will have a kind of feeling in his/her mind. If the customer's feeling (kansei) could be implemented in the new product, he/she would be satisfied with the product. The kansei engineering aims at translation of kansei into product design field including product function. This is why it is called the consumer-oriented aspect. So far there are many products in Japan applied the kansei engineering. Recently it has been applied to community design and it is named Kansei Community Ergonomics.
