Neural tube defects: As a model of neuroendocrineimmunology and at the beginning of prenatal care

Neural tube defects are one of the most common congenital abnormalities. The babies with these abnormalities have associated abnormalities including hypophyseal and adrenal agenesis or hypoplasia. In addition to central nervous system and endocrine changes, they have some immune system changes, such as thymus abnormalities and differences in CD4/CD8 ratio. These babies can be diagnosed by prenatal screening tests. This abnormality can be considered as a model of neuroendocrineimmunology and public health care system as well.
