摘要
We developed a method and a new read-out tester to estimate the feasibility of achieving a high data-transfer rate in the case of multilevel recording. We introduced a second harmonic generation (SHG) laser as a light source and a developed preamplifier having the characteristics of low noise and a wide bandwidth into the tester. We also demonstrated the feasibility of 100 Mbps data transfer using a read only memory (ROM) disk with areal densities corresponding to 40 Gbit/in(2) and 100 Gbit/in(2) using single-carrier independent pit-edge recording/two-dimensional partial response maximum likelihood (SCIPER/2DPRML) format.
