摘要：
For many applications, a three-dimensional representation improves the usability of data. Soon 3D rendering and broadband wireless communications will be embedded into various wireless handheld devices. We have built a web-based 3D city info connected to a data base and customized the system for mobile users. We also conducted field trials and usability studies on the added value or 3D graphics on navigation and wayfinding in cities. Our results show that search and visualization of location-based information of a city becomes more intuitive with lifelike 3D. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
